Doug Frassa
Director of Water Treatment

Mr. Frassa is responsible for sales, marketing and product management within the Water Treatment Division. Doug has primary responsibility for identifying and bringing on new water treatment channel partners. He helps develop channel partners by providing training, sales, technical and product application support.

Doug’s career began with Mobil Oil as a process engineer. For his six-year tenure with Mobil, he was responsible for process engineering design, operations, project engineering, energy conservation and product scheduling at several Midwest and West Coast petroleum refineries. Prior to joining QualiChem, Doug spent 19 years in sales and sales management with GE Water and Process Technologies (formerly Betz, Trevose, PA). His responsibilities included development, implementation and management of water treatment programs (boiler, cooling, waste water) for the power and large manufacturing industries (paper, chemical processing, tire), as well light manufacturing (textile, food) and institutional/commercial applications.

Mr. Frassa graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.


David Burroughs
New Business Development

Mr. Burroughs is responsible for new business development within the Water Treatment Division working with new clients as well as existing customers of QualiChem. David also provides technical and product application support, customer training and on-site support to clients as needed to support their needs in growing their business. He is based out of Raleigh, North Carolina.

David has over 20 years of experience working with water treatment systems, fifteen of which were with GE Water & Process Technologies (formerly Betz, Trevose, PA). His experience with water treatment spans many industries, including Heavy Industries such as Power, Paper, Chemical and Refining, as well as Light Industrial and Commercial Industries such as Food, Beverage, Commercial HVAC and Municipal. David’s applications experience includes extensive development and implementation of water treatment programs for boiler, cooling, membrane, ion exchange, wastewater and other various water systems.

David earned his M.B.A. from Lindenwood University and a B.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri at Rolla.


Mike Brown
Technical Product Manager

Mr. Brown is responsible for the execution of multiple support functions for the Water Treatment Division. Mike will focus on technical and product application support to our customers.

Mike began his career as a sales engineer for Unit Process Company (Seattle, WA). His responsibilities included the design and sales of water treatment equipment throughout the Hawaiian Islands and the Pacific Rim. Mike entered the chemical industry in field sales for GE Water and Process Technologies (formerly Betz, Trevose, PA) in Portland, OR and later relocated to Virginia. Mike spent 18 years with GE Water and Process Technologies in sales and sales management working in many industries to include Power, Pulp and Paper, Food and Beverage and Commercial HVAC.

Mike spent 5 years working for ChemTreat, Inc. in water treatment sales in Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina before joining the QualiChem team. Mike graduated from Washington State University in Pullman, WA with a B.S, in Mechanical Engineering. Mike served for 12 years in the US Army and the US Army Reserves as an Infantry Office, retiring at the rank of Captain.


William R. Snyder, Ph. D.
Technical Director

Dr. Snyder heads the Technical group at QualiChem. His responsibilities include direction of laboratory product development, analytical, and quality control efforts. Bill has primary responsibility for QualiChem’s quality management system (ISO 9000). Additionally, he leads regulatory affairs as well as occupational health and safety efforts. Bill also provides technical and sales support to our distributor network.

Bill’s previous experience includes more than 20 years in the Research and Development department at Betz (Trevose, PA). While working in the laboratory, Bill developed boiler and cooling products for a wide variety of applications. He holds five patents for this work. As a Research Director, he was responsible for Boiler, Cooling, Microbiology, Water/Wastewater, and Core Science product development and application efforts. Prior to joining Betz, Bill held a postdoctoral position at Marquette University.

Bill received his Ph. D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Florida State University, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Lebanon Valley College. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the National Association of Corrosion Engineers as well as a past representative to the Industrial Research Institute and the Product Development and Management Association.


Dennis E. Butts
Vice-President

Mr. Butts is an owner of QualiChem, Inc. He is primarily responsible for overseeing operation of the Salem, VA manufacturing facility, including both short and long range planning to assure our facilities and processes meet the ever-growing needs of our customers. Additionally, Dennis is responsible for engineering design on new projects within QualiChem. Dennis also provides both technical and sales input in support of the Water Treatment Division.

Dennis began his career as an industrial refrigeration design and project engineer for Webber\Smith Associates (Lancaster, PA) and later Piedmont Engineering (Charlotte, NC). His responsibilities included the development, design, and construction oversight of industrial refrigeration systems for food and beverage process facilities and cold storage facilities throughout the United States. Dennis entered the chemical industry in field sales for Betz (Trevose, PA). For over seven years, Dennis provided field support to many industrial customers covering a wide range of markets including steel, textile, paper, chemical, municipal, tire, and light industrial/commercial.

Dennis is a native of Roanoke, VA and a 1987 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
